The Board and the By-Laws Committee Chair met to discuss the comments and suggestions submitted by the membership. Thank you for your feedback! In response to your comments, several revisions were made. In some cases, no change was necessary because the issue was already covered in another section, and a few suggestions couldn’t be implemented due to AKC, non-profit, or by-law compliance requirements.

Here’s a quick summary of the major changes from the 2010 by-laws:
Language added to allow for email, virtual meetings, and voting
Reduced total number of Board members from 10 to 9 to avoid tie votes
Updated board terms to 2 years, with a maximum of 4 consecutive years before requiring a 1-year break.
Officer terms have been extended from 1 year to 2 years, and Director terms have been reduced from 3 years to 2 years.
